I don't think you can ever convince anyone who does not have the imagination or desire to see beyond personal experience.  You could show an airplane to a primitive and he would explain it away according to his own beliefs as either the work of a god or a devil.

Our awakening can be compared to the opening of a spring thorn-flower, with the bud of empathy first  unfolding within the protective sheath of innocence.  But once this sheath is pierced, bristles erect to protect the sensitive, still sleeping blossom.  One by one the protective bristles of guardedness must be folded under and rendered harmless.  Until at last the full flower appears, unafraid to be, unafraid to love.  Offering its essence, the nectar of unconditional love.

A singer who desires to hit a high note is taught never to slide up to it.  Instead, mentally focus above it and then immediately come down on the desired note.

To reach a higher vibratory level of living requires the same approach. Seek communion with the true self, the Light within, and all else will accommodate to that Self, even your physical expression.  A Chinese proverbe states:  Forget waist:  belt fits.

In other words:  turn it from the top!  Do not strain to lift the vehicle to the level of the Self.  Let the Self take over the vehicle and any change required to fulfill your true purpose will be automatic, without strain or even conscious thought except to follow your inner impressions.

The personality's task is to allow your Essence to express through it. Once this is accomplished, the rest will be easy.  Why make it hard?  Why put the cart before the horse?

But first we have to know that we are much more than a body.

The ease with which recognition comes may not indicate heavenly favor or exceptional talent at all.  It may be that it is the first time the entity has explored a talent, and to set the entity firmly on the path every advantage is given to develop a talent.

However, before its expression is considered "locked in" a life may also be lived at the opposite pole of experience -- a life in which every obstacle is placed in the way of expressing the ability.

If the entity persists in spite of these obstacles, which may also come from within, the talent or ability has been so deeply incorporated into the soul nature that nothing will prevent its expression.  Only then is the talent considered a lasting, latent part of the soul, and the entity can move on to explore and incorporate other abilities.

The biggest clue as to whether it is an early  or latent expression is the depth and power of the work itself.  Top-of-the-head work cannot compete with depth-of-the-heart work.  History is replete with the lives of great souls who brought enduring beauty and truth forth against seemingly impossible odds.

We can witness "overnight" successes that upon closer inspection often reveal a decided lack of depth and maturity.  This will not be so if what seems to be an overnight success has actually been preceded by prolonged and sincere training and effort.  Such work will stand the test of close inspection when it finally receives well-earned recognition.

Rejoice with one in his/her first effort to establish a talent, but do not be misled into thinking that speed of recognition and monetary reward are always a sure indication of value.  Judge the work on its merit.  Do not praise the creator solely on the basis of worldly success.  For many great souls who bring inspiration and shining truths into this dark and dense world often depart from it before mankind is mature enought to recognize and appreciate their gifts.

There is great strength in gentleness.  Jesus was a gentle man, but he was also a firm man.  He stood up for his principles and dared to expose the error he beheld in man.
Yet he was a gentle man.
Too often in our search for identity we overlook the strength of gentleness.  We are seeking so desperately to assert our true identity that we are often impatient with ourselves and others.  We must remember that the search for trurh is an individual journey.  There are no identical road maps.
To meet the opposition gently does not mean to bow down to error.  Kahlil Gibran in The Prophet spoke truth when he said we are wrong to limp before the lame, deeming it kindness.  But neither should we berate them for their lameness.
Those who have teachers or mentors in the invisible realms have only to observe their methods in dealing with us.  If the teaching is truly from a high plane of thought, there is great courtesy and patience shown toward our ignorance by those of greater wisdom.
Yet never does a teacher of real worth lower his (her) vibration by contending with ignorance.  He stands firm in his own understanding and allows us to bang our heads against a truth until our door finally opens and admits it.  He neither condones nor condemns our ignorance.  He remains neutral, waiting in balance for our understanding to unfold.
Can we as teachers, mentors, or examples do less?

1975

In the symbolic language of dreams, a "house" represents a state of consciousness, where you are "living" at the moment. And a move to a higher state of consciousness will often be accompanied by an actual physical move.

To expect divine Light to act as a genie, instantly creating a better 'house' is to deny yourself an orderly unfoldment of greater insight and the fulfilling experience of participating in the creation of your new awareness.  You may move into an instant physical house, but you will not be at home there until your consciousness matches the new vibration.

Every 'house' must first have a firm foundation if it is to be secure.  And only you can lay the foundation for greater awareness by preparing your mental and emotional nature to receive and accept a larger insight.

If another desires to build a better 'house' all you can offer in the way of a blueprint is to share your own step-by-step construction effort that moved you toward your own increased perception and understanding.  You cannot build another's 'house' or perform the labor required to accomplish a true change of consciousness.

I don't think you can ever convince anyone who does not have the imagination or desire to see beyond personal experience.  You could show an airplane to a primitive and he would explain it away according to his own beliefs as either the work of a god or a devil.
This attitude is the most primitive of all, for it completely absolves the believer of any effort to understand or apply what a larger concept might offer.
